Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention slated for March 27–28, 2026, the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda has emphasized the party’s commitment to transparency and institutional processes, declaring that internal mechanisms not individuals now drive decision-making within the ruling party.

Yilwatda made the remarks on Tuesday after appearing before the APC National Convention Aspirants’ Screening Committee at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where he was screened and subsequently asked to “take a bow” in recognition of what the panel described as his commendable leadership.

The screening exercise, chaired by Biodin Abayomi Oyebanji forms part of activities lined up for the party’s forthcoming national convention.

Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Yilwatda described the process as credible and transparent, stressing that it reflects a shift towards institutional supremacy within the party.

“In the APC, it has been different. Everybody is subject to the system and how it operates. The processes have become more transparent and organized, and the system now prevails over individuals,” he said.

He noted that the screening exercise, along with other committee activities, has been seamless and devoid of internal conflicts, contrasting it with what he described as recurring crises in opposition parties.

The APC chairman further asserted that the ruling party remains Nigeria’s most nationally spread political platform with a strong organizational structure across all geopolitical zones.

“If you look at recent by-elections, APC has recorded wins in Kano, Zaria, Adamawa, the South-West, South-South, and South-East. No other political party has achieved this in the past year,” Yilwatda stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to the party, he pledged to build on existing achievements if re-elected, emphasizing that the APC places a premium on loyalty and dedication among its members.

He maintained that the party’s internal democratic processes continue to set it apart, noting that all members, regardless of status, are subject to the same rules and procedures.
