Ex-Police Chief Marks 72nd Birthday with Medical Donations to Police Hospitals, Support for Vulnerable Communities

A former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Aminu Yesufu, has marked his 72nd birthday with a series of humanitarian gestures, including the donation of critical medical supplies to police hospitals and support for visually impaired students in Abuja.
The celebration, which blended philanthropy with ceremony, saw the retired senior officer extend goodwill to both healthcare institutions and vulnerable groups, reinforcing calls for sustained support for public service welfare systems.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Force Medical Services and signed by Eze Chidiebere, the initiative formed part of activities commemorating Yesufu’s birthday.
The outreach began with a visit to a school for the visually impaired, where educational materials were donated to enhance learning for students.
The celebrant, alongside family and associates, later proceeded to the Muhammadu Buhari Police Hospital, where he presented a range of medical consumables to bolster service delivery across key police health facilities.
The donation covered several institutions, including Police Hospitals in Dei Dei and Area 1, the Muhammadu Buhari Police Hospital in Garki, and the Police National Reference Hospital in Utako.
Items distributed included sphygmomanometers, stethoscopes, antimalarial medications for adults and children, antihypertensive drugs, and other essential consumables aimed at improving patient care.
The event attracted notable figures within the police medical community, including Nkechi Eze, as well as other retired and serving senior officers and stakeholders in police healthcare services.
Speaking at the event, participants commended the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that underscores the importance of supporting healthcare infrastructure within the Nigeria Police.
The celebration also served as a moment of reflection on Yesufu’s career and contributions to the Force, with colleagues highlighting his enduring legacy in service and leadership.
The Directorate of Force Medical Services reiterated its commitment to improving healthcare delivery within the Police Force, noting that partnerships and individual contributions remain vital to sustaining impact across its facilities.
