Former Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa has picked up the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms, unveiling a campaign anchored on security, welfare, and improved living standards.

Bolarinwa’s entry into the race signals a new phase in Kwara’s political landscape, as contenders begin to position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle. He said his ambition is driven by the need to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration under AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while confronting lingering governance and development gaps across the state.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, the former party chairman emphasized that his administration, if elected, would prioritize rebuilding public welfare systems through improved access to healthcare, enhanced education, and policies targeted at raising the standard of living.

“What we have in mind is to improve the welfare of our people and ensure that governance translates to real benefits for every citizen,” he said.

However, Bolarinwa placed insecurity at the centre of his campaign message, warning that rising attacks in parts of Kwara North and Kwara South threaten both development and social stability.

He lamented that several communities have suffered repeated bandit attacks, describing the situation as unacceptable and a major obstacle to economic growth.

“This is one of the major issues that will be tackled. Security will remain a priority because no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of fear and instability,” he stated.

The governorship hopeful stressed that restoring safety across affected communities would be non-negotiable, insisting that government must take decisive steps to protect lives and property.

“We must act decisively to secure our communities. Without safety, there can be no sustainable development,” he added.

Beyond security, Bolarinwa outlined a broad-based development agenda aimed at revitalizing key sectors of the state’s economy, with a focus on creating opportunities and improving livelihoods across all zones.

He expressed confidence in his preparedness for the contest, describing his candidacy as the beginning of a renewed push for inclusive and responsive governance in Kwara State.

“This marks the start of a new push for better governance. Our goal is to build a Kwara that works for الجميع,” he said.

His declaration adds momentum to early political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with party stakeholders and aspirants expected to intensify consultations in the coming months.
