A Senatorial aspirant in Zamfara State has expressed openness to both consensus and direct primary modes of candidate selection, stressing that the priority should be choosing credible leaders capable of addressing the state’s pressing challenges.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists, a group of supporters behind his aspiration said there is no objection to whichever option the party adopts, as long as the process produces leaders who can effectively represent the people.

“We have no problem with either approach. Sometimes it can be consensus, and sometimes we go for direct primaries. What we have in mind is to always contribute our quota in building the nation,” he stated.

They  noted that Zamfara State is currently facing significant socio-economic and security challenges, making it imperative to elect representatives who understand the realities on ground and can articulate the needs of the people.

“It is obvious to us that Zamfara State has a lot of problems. So, we need people who can speak on our behalf, some one who can represent our aspirations and our problems. That is why we are here,” he added.

On leadership within the state, they reaffirmed confidence in the senatorial aspiration of Sen. Muhammad Hassan, describing him as a seasoned and experienced leader.

He identified “His Excellency, Senator Dr. Hassan Muhammad Nasir, Marafan Gusau, a former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State and a two-time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” as a key personality whose political pedigree remains widely acknowledged.

The remarks come amid ongoing political consultations and alignments ahead of future electoral activities in the state, as stakeholders continue to weigh options for candidate emergence within party structures.
