Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded fresh gains in the fight against insurgency, rescuing abducted civilians, reuniting families, and arresting suspected terrorist collaborators in coordinated operations across the region.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.

According to the statement, the successes were achieved under the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity, with troops leveraging intelligence and air support to disrupt terrorist activities and rescue victims.

In one of the operations, troops acting on credible intelligence after an air interdiction around the Mandara Mountains rescued six abducted women and children at a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda on May 12, 2026.

The rescued victims were identified as Aisha Musa (18), Aisha Mohammed (17), Fatima Yahaya (20), Saudatu Musa (4), Garba Mohammed (5), and Mohammed Yahaya (3 months), all from Ngoshe community, who were abducted during a terrorist attack on March 3.

“They were successfully rescued during a well-coordinated operation and have since received medical attention before being reunited with their families through the community leadership,” the statement said.

The military confirmed that the victims were handed over to the community leader, Mallam Adamu Gunda, following treatment at a military facility.

In a separate operation, troops deployed at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area arrested a 40-year-old suspected terrorist associate, Hauwa Bulama, during an engagement.

Items recovered from the suspect included detergent, soap, a torchlight, and seasoning cubes, with preliminary findings indicating she was allegedly on her way to link up with her children believed to be members of a terrorist group.

“She has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and necessary action,” the statement added.

Further intelligence-led operations by troops under Sector 2, supported by military intelligence, led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Bakura (18) and Adiza (17), in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The arrests were linked to an earlier interception of a suspected ammunition courier, Ba’akaka Abubakar, also known as Modogol, who was apprehended while planning to supply ammunition to terrorists.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had been assigned to collect ammunition for onward delivery to a terrorist commander.

“The suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the said terrorist commander and recover the ammunition intended for delivery,” the military said.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians, and restoring peace across the North-East.

The Military High Command also commended troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations.
