DG NEMA Nominated for Blueprint Newspapers’ Responsive Humanitarian Leadership Award

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has been nominated for the Blueprint Newspapers 2025 Responsive Humanitarian Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership in coordinating timely, structured and impactful humanitarian responses across Nigeria, particularly in moments of crises and vulnerability.

The Chairman, Editorial Board of Blueprint Newspapers, Mrs. Zainab Suleiman-Okino, presented the nomination letter to the Director General on Wednesday, 3rd June, 2026, at the NEMA Headquarters in Abuja.

Mrs. Suleiman-Okino stated that the nomination followed a thorough evaluation by the newspaper’s awards selection committee, which found Mrs. Zubaida Umar eminently qualified for the prestigious recognition.

Mrs. Zainab Suleiman-Okino invited the Director General to the forthcoming award presentation event scheduled to hold soon.

Responding, Mrs. Zubaida Umar expressed appreciation to Blueprint Newspapers for the recognition and confidence reposed in her leadership.

The Director General dedicated the nomination to the Management and staff of NEMA as well as the Agency’s partners and stakeholders for their continued support and commitment towards effective disaster management and humanitarian service delivery in the country.
