The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has inaugurated members of the Office of the Deputy Director-General (DDG), Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, of the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, with a mandate to document and publicise federal infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Umahi’s inauguration was disclosed in a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Works on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed. The minister, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the campaign council’s infrastructure, mobilisation and sensitisation directorate, inaugurated the team at its meeting in Abuja.
Addressing members, Umahi called for collaboration, commitment and effective coordination, stressing that the team’s responsibility extended beyond projects executed by the Federal Ministry of Works to infrastructure initiatives undertaken by other federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
He said the objective was to provide a comprehensive account of infrastructure investments and development projects being implemented by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the country.
According to the statement, Umahi directed the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement for the six geopolitical zones, who were appointed as zonal coordinators, alongside other members and the secretary, to identify, document and compile relevant projects within their respective areas.
The minister explained that although the Federal Ministry of Works accounted for a significant proportion of federal infrastructure investment, the team’s coverage must include other MDAs to ensure that developments across the country were comprehensively captured and communicated to the public.
He also clarified that existing publicity activities by the ministry and the presidential community engagement aides would continue, while the newly inaugurated office would establish a broader framework for coordinating information on infrastructure projects at zonal, national and sub-national levels.
Umahi emphasised the importance of infrastructure development to economic growth and national integration, stating that “infrastructure investment stimulates economic activities, connects communities, creates opportunities and supports the growth of other sectors of the economy.”
Highlighting the Federal Government’s adoption of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction, the minister said the approach was helping to reduce dependence on imported bitumen while encouraging the use of local resources and technical expertise.
He noted that the technology could support domestic economic activities, reduce foreign-exchange demand associated with imported road construction materials and promote durable infrastructure delivery.
The minister charged members of the office to demonstrate diligence, professionalism and responsibility in carrying out their assignments, stressing that accurate documentation and effective public sensitisation were essential to communicating infrastructure developments.
The inauguration marks an initial step towards strengthening coordination and information management within the campaign council’s infrastructure directorate ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the team expected to publicise infrastructure projects undertaken by the Tinubu administration across the six geopolitical zones.
