NiDCOM Targets $100bn Diaspora Investment as 9th Summit Holds in Abuja
By Pan Afric Reporters
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has projected that Nigerians in the diaspora could contribute up to $100 billion annually to the country’s economy through strategic investments, as it prepares to host the 9th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in Abuja on November 10 and 11, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued on November 6, 2026, and signed by Violet Nwosu, Assistant Head of NiDCOM’s Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, ahead of the two-day summit.
The summit, themed “Bridging the Trust Gap: Connecting Diaspora Capital with Credible Home-based Opportunities,” will be held virtually via Zoom, with limited physical participation at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
Speaking at the pre-event media briefing, NiDCOM Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, represented by the Commission’s Acting Secretary, Dr. Abdulrahman Terab, said transparency, credible institutions, investor protection and reliable information were essential to strengthening diaspora investors’ confidence.
She noted that the summit would explore investment opportunities in capital markets, infrastructure, public-private partnerships and regulatory frameworks, while providing participants with direct access to regulators, project sponsors and verified service providers.
According to NiDCOM, key institutions expected to participate include the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Exchange (NGX), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), NEXIM Bank, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), Mr. Mobolaji Lewis, said the summit would focus not only on capital mobilisation but also on building “a well-structured, transparent and credible investment system.”
Lewis explained that the decision to adopt a virtual format was informed by the forthcoming 2027 general elections, adding that the 2026 summit would serve as a foundation for the landmark 10th anniversary edition in 2027.
Dabiri-Erewa expressed appreciation to First Bank of Nigeria and other partners for their continued support, while inviting Nigerians in the diaspora, professionals, investors and entrepreneurs to participate.
Interested participants can register through NDIS Registration Portal.
The Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit is a public-private sector initiative organised by NiDCOM in collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative.
