DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: FEBRUARY 1 SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW (1) Scripture: 1 John 5: 11 – 13
There is no doubt that the greatest quest human beings are bothered with, is the desire to know things. Daily, every living person feels the inadequacies of not knowing certain mystery or why things happen around him or her enough. We humans are pre-occupied with the desire to know why certain things happen, why the sky and the clouds hang over our heads but never fall upon us. We are daily concern with why people die or why death is included in our living time tables. Many want to know why God should allow sicknesses and diseases remain with humanity on the earth. Many others are daily searching to know why natural disasters occur in a world purported to have been created by God. More other people are seeking to know spiritual things hidden in the mysterious worlds.
The quest to know spiritual and mystical things has pushed mankind into studying Spiritism, demonology, mysticism, spiritual and natural sciences. In all our desires to know what is hidden from our natural senses, the futility of not knowing things as we ought to, remain the biggest frustration facing us every day. The world had produced great philosophers, psychologists, historians, scientists and people who have claimed knowing things even higher than God. Yet, facts are that more people are lamenting not having known anything. Many geniuses have discovered or invented wonderful things. Yet, others are emerging still searching to invent more. As a matter of fact, the quests to gaining the knowledge of all things poses the biggest challenge to all of us.
One can say confidently that the world has never been filled with people wanting to know how to gain mystical powers, how to excel in medical knowledge, mastering the knowledge of abstract lives and what have you. Thousands and millions of years have passed, but mankind is seeking to know how to live on the earth forever. The search for how to live on the earth forever so that one does not die again stands out as the most frustrating irony of life. Existence of death seems to be the formidable torment facing the rich, the wealthy and the poor. In fact, the rich and the wealthy fear death the most. Having the knowledge of eternal life still remain the most desired knowledge. Biblically, we are told that gaining the knowledge about Jesus Christ as one’s Saviour, as the Only Son of God and accepting Him gives everyone the knowledge of eternal life. Apostle John wrote about this and said that what he has written is for us to know have to grab eternal life. He said: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” 1 John 5: 13). The beloved, you are welcome to know about eternal life and reflections of eternal life from this world.
PRAYER:
Pray and ask Jesus Christ to reveal Himself to you personally as this will enable you know Him as the Son of the Living God.
