DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: MAY 20 THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM ON JESUS (1) SCRIPTURE: LUKE 2: 41; PROVERBS 1: 1 – 6
We might have seen, from yesterday’s devotional that The Spirit of the LORD comes upon people and ministers to them diverse gifts, powers, knowledge, leadership authority and so on. Today’s devotional picks on “The Spirit of Wisdom” upon Jesus Christ. This is the Spirit that imparts divine wisdom upon those he comes on. Without wisdom no man can make good use of what he has, be it understanding, knowledge, skills or money. Every human being needs wisdom to handle physical, moral, spiritual, political and economic matters. Jesus Christ handled so many things with great wisdom. The Spirit of Wisdom that came upon Him made Him an ultimate duplicate of God’s wisdom. At age of twelve, Jesus answered all the questions threw at Him by the elders in the Temple of Jerusalem as seen in the lead text above. He used great wisdom to answer the Pharisees and the Sadducees who came asking Him whether to pay tax to Caesar or not (Matt. 22: 20 – 27). His reply was “Give to Caesar things which are Caesar’s” was a great wisdom.
As a matter of truth, no being can be successful in anything without wisdom. All Christians need the Spirit of Wisdom. We have all known the stories about the Wisdom of King Solomon in the Bible. The Bible enjoins Christians to “gain divine wisdom, gain knowledge and advance in understanding (Prov. 1: 1 – 6). As God uses wisdom to lay the foundations of the earth (Prov. 3: 19a), we His children need the wisdom to lay foundations of all we intended doing. The Bible says wisdom is a principal thing (Prov. 4: 7). Another part of the Bible says that wisdom is profitable and for direction (Eccl. 10: 10). In another place, the Bible says that wisdom is a defense (Eccl. 7: 12).
The question here is, do we need the Wisdom of the Spirit of the LORD? The answer is yes. This is because Divine Wisdom is indispensible attribute of the Almighty God. Another question is whether we can receive Spirit of wisdom? This answer is again an affirmative YES! King Solomon received wisdom on request from God because without it he would not be able to lead the people full of intrigues and difficult at heart (1 Kings 3: 7 – 10). Apostle James knew the great importance of wisdom when he advised that whoever lacks wisdom should pray to God to receive it (James 1: 50-6). Follow us into tomorrow as we discuss the benefits of the Spirit of wisdom.
PRAYER:
BLESSED FATHER, I passionately desire the baptism of the Spirit of wisdom in this our world system that forces of darkness have so much adulterated Divine Wisdom in the name of Jesus Christ.
