We can have only One Speaker, Members-elect from South West are in Support of Tajudeen Abbas Says Hon. Odimayo Okujimi John
A Member-elect for Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Odimayo Okujimi John has stated that most of the lawmakers-elect from the South West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria are behind Hon. (Dr.) Tajudeen Abbas, the preferred candidate of the ruling APC for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Okujimi John in an interview with journalists noted that there is nothing wrong in any member aspiring to become speaker in the green chamber, but all members should note that there can be only one speaker at a time. According to him, there is wisdom in the nomination of Abbas as a preferred candidate to preside over the 360 members in the 10th National Assembly.
“We’re looking forward for a very good startup and I’m very sure we will go in the right direction
“As as we all know, all the aspirants are qualified, but one person must emerge and the party looked into it and had seen the wisdom in picking Hon Tajudeen Abbas.
“We are all products of the party, the supremacy of the party should not be undermined, So, I enjoin every member of the party to follow the zoning of the party
“I have opportunity to come close to Dr. Abbas and I have seen the type of unique character and skills he is endowed with. He is humble, intelligent, accessible and hard working person.
“He’s an academician and know he has the right leadership skills to lead the 10th Assembly
“Jettisoning the zoning arrangement will be a problem to the party because we’re coming from an election that is projected to be a success. We cannot undermine a zone that contributed immensely to the emergence of the president,” Okujimi John said.
