This is the last series on God’s adding fifteen years to King Hezekiah’s age. As mentioned from the beginning, this devotional on King Hezekiah’s story should arouse Christians’ interests in working for GOD faithfully and excellently when one has the opportunities. This then makes us stand on our legal ground to demand from God to add more years to our years, more blessing to our blessings and more success to our successes. But this can be only when we have done things excellently, uprightly and righteously for God, as in the case of King Hezekiah. We have seen many wonderful things King Hezekiah did righteously when assumed the office as King. This edition of the devotional is on his establishment of welfare and safety environment for his people.

King Hezekiah’s desires included that the Priests and the Levites are properly taken care of in order to serve God and the people better.

(1). He therefore, ordered the people in Jerusalem to contribute for the welfare of the Priests and the Levites. The people contributed abundantly, food items while the people in Judah gave tithes of oxen and sheep as well as holy things which were consecrated to the Lord their God. Things contributed were in heaps (2 Chro. 31: 4 – 5). The Priests and the Levites had more than abundance.

(2). The King opened store houses for things contributed to be kept for children from three years and above to feed on daily (2 Chro. 31: 8 – 10; 16 – 17).

(3). King Hezekiah understood that safety of the citizens matters a lot to God. He therefore, strengthened the city walls by raising them up to towers (2 Chro. 32: 5).

(4). He created underground tunnel from the Northern part of Jerusalem to the Eastern part for the people to have steady water supply. The tunnel is a tourism center in the City of David till date.

At the end, when God sent Prophet Isaiah to King Hezekiah informing him of the nearness of his death, Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and told God he needed reward of longer life for the works he did. God heard him and added fifteen extra years to his years. The fifteen extra years were full of many blessings for King Hezekiah. Readers of this devotional are to be challenged here. How godly and righteous are our Kings these days? How many of us are mindful to bring righteousness into the house of God today? How much care are we giving to those we rule over us today? How secured are our citizens in our hands as leaders today? Will God add even one day to our days if we talk to Him for such favour today? I can conclude that anyone whose answer to these questions above is 75% to 80% can turn to God for the favour of King Hezekiah. There are a lot to do to change our longevity and those who we live with. Emulation of King Hezekiah’s life standards should be our determined aim these days. Remain blessed my beloved!

PRAYERS:

1. LORD JESUS, bestow upon me today, the qualities of King Hezekiah in order to stand holy and blameless to intercede for my people in Jesus name.

2. Add us your children, more years to be blessed righteously, uprightly and in holiness so that our prayers will be effectual for ourselves and other peoples.

POSITIVE DECLARATION:

I claim the righteousness and uprightness of King Hezekiah upon my Spirit, Soul and Body in Jesus name. I am a channel of blessing to my generation in Jesus name.
