DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JUNE 28 WAITING WITH CHRISTIAN HOPE SCRIPTURE: Job 14: 14; Isaiah 49: 2, 7, 10 – 11, 13
Today’s devotional is addressing one of the critical doctrines of Christians. It has been treated with diverse approaches by many Christians. Ordinary people see hope as mere wishful thinking of something to come through or happen. In this type of hope, negativism is mixed up with positivism. Biblical definition of hope is “confident expectation.” Christian Hope is a firm positive assurance regarding things that are unclear and unknown. When talking of Christian Hope, we mean expecting things with positive minds against all odds. We are talking of seeing good things, within our minds, to come on our ways in the nearest future. If our looking forward for anything is done with double mindedness, such is not a Christian Hope. This devotional is about we Christians waiting for anything concerning us with confidence that God will surely bring it on our ways.
In Job 14: 14, we can conclude that, Job knew how to employ godly hope waiting for the good days ahead. He knew that many died as a result of hopelessness. He said therefore: “If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14: 14 KJV). Passing through life with hopelessness is an indication that one fails short of Christian life. The Bible presents hope as “expectation” which is a fundamental component of the life of the righteous. We should know that there is an end to things, yet we are to be confident that our expectation shall not be cut off (Prov. 23: 18). While waiting in hope, Christians should firmly believe that whatever they are looking forward to cannot be denied them.
In waiting with hope, Christians are to be obedient to God, live godly life while putting trust or their hope in God. In doing this, their help will surely come to them and will not be confounded. God said anyone waiting on Him with hope shall not be put to shame: “…For they shall not be ashamed that wait for me” (Isaiah 49: 2). Perhaps, you reading this devotional might be passing through chains of hopelessness due to various kinds of hardships. Wait with hope on God. You might have suffered much shame because of childlessness, wait on God with hope. There are evidences of scarcity of foods in food markets, drugs in government hospitals, increase of applicants in labour markets as well as financial decrease from your pockets. But hope in God.
There are lots of good promises God put together for Israel, His children. As Christians, we all have share in the citizenship of Israel by elections. Because you belong to the chosen ones, God will bring you Kings and Queens to worship you that have been despised (Isa. 49: 7). God will bring foods to your table and removes obstacles from before you (Isa. 49: 10 – 11). Know that your name is conspicuously written inside God’s palms and all your surroundings are known to Him, even if you belong to the non-Jews but a Christian, God will cause Kings and Queens to attend to your needs (Isa. 49: 11, 23 KJV).
PRAYER:
FATHER GOD; grant me a positive waiting heart with firm assurance on your promises. May I not die till my changes come forth in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I am getting off the rivers of hopelessness now. I am standing on the shores of God’s glory!!
