Yesterday’s devotional gave us some points on facts about being born again. These are processes “being born again” are transmitted. We have seen that it is both moral and spiritual change as well as a change of heart, will, motives and desires. Today, we will add more facts. Another fact about New Birth is an adoption of the believer from one state to another. This means being accepted, received and made a legitimate member of God’s family. Before getting born again, we were purely alienated people from God. That is, we are members of people withdrawn from God by spiritual relationships.

Getting born again makes us actual children of God. It also makes us beneficiaries of all the rights and privileges made available for God’s family. All truly born again Christians are heirs of God (Rom. 8: 15 – 16). There is a change of masters when one becomes born again. As unbelievers in God, everything about us is controlled by satan and his cohorts.* We thus have sin as our master. This forms reasons we commits all sorts of sins uncontrollably, even when we hate our actions then. At New Birth, our masters, satan and his cohorts are changed. Jesus Christ becomes our Master who assigns the Holy Spirit to be controlling our affairs; and guiding us into doing righteous things. This phenomenon is explicitly stated in Romans 6: 11 – 23. But selected verses are in (Rom. 6: 14, 17, 18).

Being born again does not involve change in natural forms. It doesn’t mean transformation of one’s real physical life. It is purely the consecration of the body, spirit and the soul of the believer in order that; the born again serves God in holiness instead of serving satan. Consecration here is setting aside oneself for the work of righteousness and holiness pleasing God only. In reading through Romans 6: 18 – 19, it will be discovered that the born again Christian is set free from sin, and thus becomes servant to righteousness. That, when one becomes born again, he or she stops “yielding his/her members servants to uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, but yields them to righteousness and holiness. The prayer of this devotional today is for God to give the readers understanding of where they stand with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and God.

PRAYER:

JEHOVAH MY FATHER, give me grace to see the true nature of my holiness and righteousness before you and your Son Jesus Christ. Help me out of self-righteousness in Jesus name.

POSITIVE DECLARATION:

Henceforth I will yield my life to the discipline of the Holy Spirit. Depart from me all evil masters!!
