Ojenyo Development Association Pays Courtesy Call on Ado Local Government Chairman, Engr. Sunny Oche

The Ojenyo Development Association (ODA), led by its National President, Chief Omeka Okpave, recently paid a courtesy visit to the elected Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Engr. Sunny Oche, at his country home. The visit served as a congratulatory gesture following Engr. Oche’s successful election on October 5, 2024.

The ODA delegation, which included prominent members such as Hon. Anthony Ogoro (Past Local Government Chairman), Hon. Innocent Agasi (Past Local Government Vice Chairman), Chief Vincent Uloko, Hon. Innocent Eka (Councilor for Royongo Ward), Hon. Quivina Uloko (Supervisory Councilor), Hon. Sunday Ogiji Atoji (Past Royongo Councilor and fmr Leader), and Hon. Mathew Ugwuru (GLO-Ado), expressed their gratitude for the peaceful election process and commended Engr. Oche’s dedication to the betterment of Ado Local Government Council. They noted the positive progress made in his short time in office and expressed optimism for his future leadership.

Mr. Omeka Okpave, the delegation’s spokesperson and immediate past Director General, Services and Administration (DGSA) of the Local Government Council, presented a list of key development needs for the Ojenyo community. These requests, many of which Engr. Oche has already begun addressing, include:

1. Upgrade of the Ujol-Ojenyo-Itakpa Road, with a focus on the Royongo Bridge, connecting Obi Local Government Area.
2. Improvement of the Ijokoro-Ruchar-Igba Road.
3. Revitalization of the Oja Ojenyo Market.
4. Support for the completion of the Ojenyo Multipurpose Hall.
5. Expansion of rural electrification to all parts of Royongo Ward, including the installation of additional transformers.
6. Provision of permanent housing for the Royongo Primary Healthcare Center, currently operating in temporary facilities.

Engr. Oche, in response, confirmed that several Royongo Ward projects are included in the Council’s 2025 budget. He highlighted the ward’s significant political influence in Ado and emphasized the importance of adhering to zoning arrangements, noting that it had been crucial in securing the Utonkon District’s Chairmanship after a long period. He acknowledged the demanding nature of the Local Government Chairman’s role and expressed hope for increased resource allocation in the future to ease provision of dividend of democracy. The Chairman also detailed plans for agro-investment in Royongo, capitalizing on the area’s fertile land and the potential of its underutilized dry Okro production. He assured the community of his commitment to addressing their needs concerning the bridge, electrification, market, healthcare, and skill acquisition centers.

The visit concluded with a celebratory exchange of gifts, further strengthening the collaborative relationship between the Ojenyo Development Association and the Ado Local Government Council.
