Illegal Extortion in Ado: Revenue Collection Not Authorized By The Local Government Chairman

The Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Engr. Sunny Oche is deeply worried about the recent unauthorized revenue collection by Forte Harvest. It could be recalled that the Chairman in his maiden speech on 9th October 2024 dissolved all revenue committees in the local government with instruction for everyone involved to remit all receipts in their possession immediately.

Reports have reached the Chairman’s desk regarding unauthorized revenue collection activities in Ado by one Forte Harvest, raising concerns among Ado residents and local businesses.

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Sunny Oche according to his Chief Press Secretary, Samson Otokpa has categorically denied any involvement in these extortion schemes. He emphasized that he has not authorized any individual or group to collect revenue on his behalf, which is a clear indication that he has yet to lift the embargo on Revenue collection in this dispensation.

Engr. Sunny Oche is worried that the unauthorized collection of funds not only undermines the integrity of local governance but also places an undue burden on citizens who are already facing economic challenges.

Hon. Oche urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. He reassures all Adolites that his office is committed to transparency and accountability in all financial matters.

The Local Government Boss will support genuine efforts to uphold lawful revenue collection processes which he will unfold in due time. He remains committed to a fair and just business environment for all residents doing genuine business in the Local Government Area.
