DR AKURA CHARGES THE LG TREASURERS TO TRANSMOGRIFY SALARY PAYROLL TO MEET FR ALIA’S APPROVED NEW MINIMUM WAGE DEADLINE

Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Bureau of Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dr. Dennis Akura, has charged the Local Government Treasurers and Salary Desk Officers, across the 23 Local Government Councils in Benue State to speedily use the state government salary gazette to upgrade all the Local Government staff salaries to meet the recent approval of the seventy five thousand naira minimum wage by Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
The Special Adviser according to a press statement e-signed by his Media & Publicity Aide, Iortyer Eric gave this charge in a meeting today 20th November, 2024, with the Benue State Local Government Treasurers and Desk Officers as directed by His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, at the Bureau headquarters Makurdi.
He explained that, the purpose of the session was to ensure that, the directives given by the Governor which mandated that the seventy five thousand naira minimum wage approved should take effect in November at the salary usual dates.
Dr Akura, urges the Treasurers and Salary Desk Officers to be speedily, transparently and efficiently in discharging their duties.
In the remark, the Director Finance and Account at Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Margaret Galu, described the new Minimum wage approved by Fr Alia as “historic” and assured that, she will indefatigably supervise the exercise to ensure the directive of the Governor is actualized.
In a vote thanks, the Chairman of Local Government Treasurers Forum in Benue State, Mrs Dorothy Igbudu described the Fr Alia’s approval of 75 thousand naira minimum wage as succor to the local government staff.
She appreciated Dr Dennis Akura, for always giving the Treasurer the desirable working synergy and as well, promised to ensure that, the salary upgrade exercise at the local government will be done transparently and timely inline with the Rev. Gentleman’s directives.
