What an individual never resisted to respond to with smiles and joyful heart, is when he/she is being projected above others in the public gathering. The wealthy and rich individuals have spent fortunes on their praise-singers who made them become lofty for singing praises of them, giving them great titles and marvelous descriptions of how great they are. Today’s devotional is looking at the phrase “Be Thou Exalted O God.” The be thou exalted is a language of honour to God. It means be you lifted up above other beings. Do we not think that when we exalt the name of God, He will be happy? Exalting the name of God simply means raising God to the highest above all heights. Exalting the name of God is another form of being thankful to God. It involves worshipping Him by seeing Him greater than all other beings.

We are in a generation that behaves more like exalting satan, demons and enemies above God. Many Christians are so conscious of the powers from the pits of hell, powers from the marine kingdoms, powers from the villages and several other spiritual powers that the power of God seemed totally absent from our minds. What is being said here is, people tend to have given evil forces ‘first places of power’ than God. We have to exalt the name of God by giving Him the first place of authority and power over or against any other being. It is very ridiculous for any Christian to give highest respect or recognition to any other being apart from God.

King David knew the value of exalting the name of God, possibly than any human being ever lived. He expressed his unreserved commitment to exalting the name of God in so many places in the book of Psalms. Hear King David: “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever” (Psa. 145: 1 – 2 NIV). Powerful declaration mixed with determination to make God happy. As Christians, let us look away from the so called ‘powers of the evil forces’ and settle for extoling God and His Son Jesus Christ above all other powers. While we are doing this in our hearts, we should be able to speak it loud how we rate God above all other beings. In so doing, we will begin to see how God will keep blessing us.

PRAYER:

HOLY SPIRIT, teach my heart to know the highest position God occupy, both in heaven and on the earth, in order for me to be exalting His name every day, in the name of Jesus Christ.
