Fubara is Unlocking Potential for the Prosperity of Rivers Youth
By Bethel Nte
The mantra of the Governor Fubara-led administration has been to address the challenges that hinder the potential of Rivers youths in benefiting from the local economic opportunities. Today, we have a governor who is professionally trained and prepared for the governance of our dear state. Within a short period, he has made significant strides in governance and repositioned the state as a leading economy hub in Nigeria.
With numerous business enterprises establishing themselves in the state and creating job opportunities for the youths, the entire state is witnessing rapid development, with thousands of Rivers youths providing their services and earning a living across various sectors. The #1.1 trillion 2025 budget presents an ambitious outlook for the youths in this fiscal year, with provisions for job creation, education, agriculture, culture, and tourism.
His Excellency, Governor Fubara, is a youthful leader by age, physically fit, mentally mature, and professionally trained to steer the ship of our dear state. He is doing an amazing job despite the destructive distractions by those who have made politics a means for survival and illicit wealth accumulation.
They do not have a better alternative to offer; yet, they believe they own the state and should be given the opportunity to govern, even if it means compromising the collective goodwill of the people. Do not allow them to use you as instruments of destructive politics. Instead, take advantage of the numerous opportunities arising from the government’s policies and provide constructive suggestions on areas where the government can improve.
They don’t want you to study abroad, but they invest the state’s resources in giving their children the best education abroad. Your qualifications are not good enough to secure the best jobs, but their children will get those jobs without breaking a sweat. A meal in an average restaurant in Port Harcourt costs more than #15,000. When they come to you with their #10,000 token to join their street protest, let them know it is not enough to buy you a meal. Be valuable and demand more.
Ask them to present their blueprint for governance, if they have one that is better than the current administration’s. Supporting a government that is youth-driven is supporting your own dreams as a youth. Governor Fubara, his Chief of Staff, and other officials are driving youth inclusiveness in governance.
In 2025, do not be swayed by those whose only achievement is organizing unscheduled luncheons with media coverage, while neglecting the basic needs of their communities, such as access to clean portable water. Governor Fubara is the governor of Rivers State, with a pan-Rivers agenda that benefits the entire state, not just a particular ethnic group. For a while now, we have been witnessing mega projects across the state, without any section crying out for marginalization, unlike in the previous administration.
Let us join Governor Fubara in taking ownership of our government and state. None of them is more Rivers State than us. They have had their time; now it is our time through Governor Fubara. Happy New Year, my dear Rivers youths.
