DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JANUARY 22 LOOK UP AND LIVE. Scriptures: Number 21:4-9, John 3:14-21
The children of Israel murmured against God. God has just delivered them from the land of slavery in Egypt. While walking in the wilderness as they were on their way to the Promised Land; the difficulty of the journey through the desert terrain caused them to grow impatient. Their frustration resulted in some harsh words against God and Moses. God lost patient with them and cursed them. He sent fiery serpents with venom in their teeth to bit them. They cried out to Moses and said; we’re sorry! Please, call to God and ask Him to help us! God told Moses to take a pole of brass and a serpent of brass and fastened it to the ground. Tell the people to look at the serpent and they will live. As many that bitten by the serpent and looked at the pole with the brass of the serpent certainly lived.
On the cross, God forgot His Son and He remembered you. Do you know why God did that? He turned His face away from Jesus; He left Him to die in agony; not because He wanted to put Him through those pains, but because He had to do it to save you. God looked away from Jesus hanging on the Cross because He loved you and has a consuming passion for you. There is no one in this world that God love more than you.
(Rom 5: 8) …He commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He doesn’t want us to try our best, but He loves us even as we are. (John 15:13). Greater love has no man than to lay down His life for His friends.” (John 23:42) “And if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me.” Whatever your situation may be; look unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith.
