DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JANUARY 24 ATTRACTING DIVINE VISITATION SCRIPTURE: LUKE 19: 3 – 5

Spread the love

We were told in yesterday’s devotional that divine visitation is when God comes down to intervene in people’s lives. It means encountering God’s visitation in one’s life that brings up dramatic and drastic change in the person. Divine visitation is established when God or heavenly celestial being visits a person. It was divine visitation on Abraham that brought about the birth of Isaac. The same divine visitation on Zachariah resulted in the birth of John the Baptist. We were told yesterday too that Zacchaeus had divine visitation from Jesus Christ. Today’s devotional will build on “Attracting Divine Visitation.” God will not visit one just like that except when He wants to show His favour on the person by His Love and Grace. Majority of those who received divine visitation lived lives that go along with God’s expectation. For us to attract divine visitation we must do some things pleasing to God.

We must first build strong trust in God to attract divine visitation. We must trust who Jesus is and the position of the Holy Spirit. Divine visitation, most often, comes through the descent of the Spirit of God. Let us trust and believe in God that all powers belong to Him and trusting Jesus as one who is placed above all other names. We have to daily think on this, move along with this concept. This makes us carry the thought of heavenly presence in our hearts and minds. Then, divine visitation is sure. Another way to attract divine visitation is desiring to see God or His representatives in Heaven. Zacchaeus desired to see Jesus so to know who He is. Despite his smallest stature, he climbed the Sycamore-fig tree so as to see Jesus. We must again take pragmatic action to experience divine visitation. Zacchaeus did in addition to see Jesus by climbing the Sycamore-fig tree.

_We can attract divine visitation by being sensitive to favourable opportunity for the visitation. The Blind Bartimaeus did this when sensing that Jesus was the one passing by. He cried out again and again. Many at times, obstacles will try to stop one from experiencing divine visitation. When such obstacles come at the verge of our encountering God, we must resist. Blind Bartimaeus resisted the crowd asking him to keep quiet from calling Jesus. The Bible said Jesus stopped for Blind Bartimaeus, asked that he should be brought to Him. The Blind Man regained his sight. This devotional might not know what has been stopping you from experiencing divine visitation. But the assurance is, if you can trust God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, see yourself been a Christian as opportunity to receive divine visitation and resist forces preventing your experience, God will visit you. Amen.

PRAYER:

FATHER, LORD JESUS, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, I desire your visitation upon my life and my situation today. Plan a favourable opportunity for me to encounter this divine visitation through Christ my LORD.
