

ESTABLISHMENT OF FED. UNIVERSITY OF ENVIRONMENT AND TECHNOLOGY: Tinubu is a president of all-Sen. Mpigi

The Senate Committee Chairman on Works, Vice Chairman on Oil and Gas Host Committee, Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Sen. Mpigi Barinada PhD. has hails President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for graciously assenting the Establishment Bill for the Fed. University of Environment and Technology Koroma/Saakpenwa, Tai, Ogoni, describes the president as president for all.
Mpigi gave the commendation today in his office at National Assembly while addressing journalist (National Assembly New Media Forum).
” I want to start by commending president Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Commander in Chief, he has shown that he is a listening president, he has shown that he is prepared, no matter the part of the country, no matter how the people has been oppressed, he is prepared to see how he can solve that problem.
“He has also shown, even myself, I am not a member of his political party, am from the People Democratic Party, he is not on a party line, he is a president of all , no matter the political party.
“We must commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have given concern to the oppressed people of Niger-Delta and the Ogoni at large.
” The labour of our heroes past, most of our heroes has gone, this is their intention, today if is possible to wake the dead, when you wake the dead from their graves today, I think they will be smiling. This is what King Saro Wiwa stands for, he wanted the upliftment of an Ogoni Kingdom, and I think the university on the land of Ogoni Kingdom is an upliftment of the Gonni Kingdom.”
Mpigi recalling the legislative process which the Bill undergone before the its assent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the president of the 10th Senate, Dst. Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON and his counterpart, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON and others for their invaluable support.
Sen. Barinada Mpigi in a press statement he personally signed on behalf of the entire Ogoni Representatives at the 10th National Assembly and made available to members of the National Assembly New Media Forum said “in sponsoring this Bill, I was fully aware of the vital role this university would play in addressing core aspects of the Ogoni question. The Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, Tal, Ogoni will serve as a beacon of hope-a place where our youth can acquire knowledge, develop skills, and faster Innovation. Beyond being an Institution, It represents a commitment to nurturing the talents and aspirations of our people, ensuring that we contribute meaningfully to our nation and the world.”

I, on behalf of the Ogoni representatives at the 10th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, extend our profound gratitude to His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for graciously assenting to the Bill establishing the Federa University of Environment and Technology, Karoma/Szakpeners, Tai, Ogonl. This landmark decision reaffirms Mr. President’s commitment to genuina engagement, Inclusive governance, and sustainable development in our region.
In sponsoring this Bill, I was fully aware of the vital role this university would play in addressing core aspects of the Ogoni question. The Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, Tal, Ogoni will serve as a beacon of hope-a place where our youth can acquire knowledge, develop skills, and faster Innovation. Beyond being an Institution, It represents a commitment to nurturing the talents and aspirations of our people, ensuring that we contribute meaningfully to our nation and the world.
This achievement is not mine alone but a collective effort, embodying the voices of our communities, the resilience of our people, and the unwavering support of our leaders. The labours and sacrifices of our heroes past now rest on our shoulders, and it is our duty to sustain this beacon of hope for future generations.
I therefore call on the Ogoni people to sheath their swords and remain peaceful yet vigilant as the ongoing dialogue progresses. This moment demands unity and patience as we seek lasting solutions to the challenges confronting Ogoniland. The Journey towards Justice and development is ongoing, and our collective resolve will determine our success.
As we move forward, we remain committed to providing leadership, advocacy, and unwavering support for the aspirations of the Ogani people. I assure my people that I will continue to be a trusted voice and a dedicated representative, ensuring that the Interests of Ogoniland are championed at every level.
We cannot conclude this statement without acknowledging the leadership of the 10th National Assembly-led by The President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and the Speaker of The House of Representatives, Rt. Hon, Tajudeen Abbas, CFR-for their Invaluable support in ensuring the swift passage of this crucial Bill. I also recognizes the unwavering support of His Excellency, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, DSSRS, Honourable Minister of the FCT, whose guidance was Instrumental in achieving this milestone. Additional, I commend the Governor of Rivers State , who led the delegation to Mr. President on January 22, 2025, where the assent to this Bill was a key demand and n discussions on the Federal Government’s re- entry into Ogoniland for hydrocarbon activities. Their dedication to our cause is deeply appreciated.
Once again, I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for listening to the aspirations of the Ogoni people and taking decisive action, I remain committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure this Initiative delivers maximum benefits to our people and the nation.
