One of the youths from Ivo local government area, who spoke on the ground of anonimity, said the demand became necessary following the risk and cost they incur trying to travel from their local government areas for their stipends.
The youth called on the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru to prevail on the FON Coordinator to decentralize payment to different local government areas.
The anonymous source said, “Local and Ward Executives of Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru Organization FON are crying out over the injustice and risks they are currently facing in the hands of the Coordinator of FON Youth Movement, Hon Chinedu Emerike
“The Youths are lamenting that they don’t make judicious use of the 10k monthly stipend being given to them by the State Governor. Many of them who comes from far distance are calling on the State Governor to prevail on the Coordinator to decentralize the payment.
“Some of them lament that they spend close to N7000 to N8000 to transport themselves from their local government to Abakaliki on transport and feeding and will go back with only N2000 while their counterparts from nearby local government goes home with an average of N9000 because of the close distance.
“We face serious road accident risk coming to Abakaliki and going back.
“We solicit to State Governor to prevail on their leaders to decentralize the payment preferably, let the payment be at the different local government, to reduce the risk burden and high expenditure they incur coming to Abakaliki every other month”, the source said.
