Abuja, Nigeria – May 29, 2025 —
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its transformative contributions to Nigeria’s economy, youth empowerment, and innovation-driven development during his nationwide address marking the second anniversary of his administration.
In the live broadcast commemorating his May 29 anniversary, President Tinubu hailed NASENI’s remarkable achievements under the leadership of its Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, calling the agency a “symbol of the government of action powered by the energy and innovation of young Nigerians.”
Highlighting NASENI’s role in driving inclusive industrialization, Tinubu according to a press release e-signed by the agency’s Deputy Director, Information Mr. Chima Akwaja praised key initiatives such as Innovate Naija, Irrigate Nigeria, the Asset Restoration Programme, and the Renewable Energy and Innovation Park in Gora. These programs, he noted, are helping to create jobs, restore industrial capacity, and empower youths across the nation.
“Nowhere is placing young Nigerians at the heart of national development more evident than at NASENI,” the President said. “From assembling electric vehicles and rehabilitating idle assets to launching Africa’s most advanced Rapid Diagnostic Kit Factory and training female drone engineers, NASENI is showing what it means to deliver results.”
He also acknowledged NASENI’s strategic deployment of cutting-edge technology through its Unified ERP System—featuring real-time dashboards and end-to-end e-procurement—as a new benchmark for transparency and efficiency in public sector governance.
President Tinubu emphasized the pivotal role NASENI plays in his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in the agricultural sector. Through its Irrigate Nigeria initiative, the Agency has deployed solar-powered irrigation systems to boost local food production, support smallholder farmers, and stabilize food prices nationwide.
Beyond agriculture, NASENI is spearheading a wave of industrial rejuvenation, with ongoing projects that include the establishment of urea and coal-based factories, a lithium processing plant, drone assembly hubs, expanded eco-friendly cookstove production, and the revival of abandoned farm machinery.
“With bold vision and effective execution, NASENI is leading the way in restoring dignity to work and building a future of opportunity for our youth,” Tinubu said.
NASENI, a strategic agency under the Presidency, is tasked with building Nigeria’s science and engineering infrastructure to promote homegrown industrialization and economic resilience.
