In a major step toward strengthening regional security, Engr. Sunny Oche, Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, joined top officials and traditional leaders from Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States for a high-level joint border security summit held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The two-day summit, which concluded today, aimed to establish a unified framework for intelligence gathering and enhance security collaboration across the border communities of the three neighboring states. The meeting drew wide participation from government officials, traditional rulers, security experts, and senior representatives of various law enforcement agencies.
A key highlight of the gathering was the participation of all paramount traditional rulers from the three states. “The security of our communities begins at the grassroots,” he said. “Local government leaders must take the lead in partnering with security agencies and community stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and stability.”
The summit concluded with a strong commitment from all participating parties to implement the resolutions reached and maintain open channels for continuous collaboration. The outcomes are expected to pave the way for a more secure and united front across Nasarawa, Taraba, and Benue States.
