IGP Disu to Unveil Police Vigilant App, MTN CUG Network

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, will on September 1, 2026, launch the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Vigilant App and MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network as part of efforts to deepen technology-driven policing and enhance communication across the Force.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, ANIPR, on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on August 24, 2026.
The launch ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, FCT, Abuja, and is expected to mark another step in the Force’s efforts to integrate modern technology into policing and improve operational effectiveness.
The NPF Vigilant App is designed to facilitate improved engagement, information sharing and communication between the Police and members of the public, while the MTN CUG Network will provide a dedicated communication platform for personnel of the Force.
According to the statement, the two initiatives are expected to strengthen internal coordination, facilitate seamless communication among police personnel and enhance the delivery of security services to Nigerians.
The initiative is also part of IGP Disu’s broader focus on leveraging technology and strategic partnerships to modernise policing and make the Force more responsive to the security needs of citizens.
The statement said the technology-driven platforms would support more efficient information flow and operational coordination across the Nigeria Police Force.
The Police said the launch underscores its commitment to embracing innovation and strategic partnerships in strengthening policing and improving service delivery.
The Force further reaffirmed its determination to harness technology and innovation to enhance operational effectiveness and deliver “more responsive, efficient and people-centred security services to Nigerians.”
The launch is expected to bring together relevant stakeholders as the Police formally introduces the new digital and communication initiatives into its operational framework.
