The Ebonyi State Chapter Chairman of African Democratic Congress (AD), Dr Jennifer Adibe, has called for support from the supporters the 2023 presidential candidates of the Labour Party (LP) and that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar respectively to collapse their structures into ADC.
Adibe, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki, also urged supporters of Aminu Tambuwal and Nasir Elrufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to also identify with ADC in the State.
According to her, the party in the state had embarked on massive registration of members across the 171 wards and 13 local government areas, while calling on those willingly to defect to do that in the right manner.
She said, “Currently, we are doing registrations. Since the declaration of the coalition, there have been so many people calling us that they want to register into our party. So, we are doing registration both at the local government and at the state level.
“So, there have been a lot of influx of volunteers into the party. And I want to use this opportunity to call on our stakeholders, our partners who are from the other party before, and say that they are now joining the ADC, to come and register with us.
“So, they should come and register, because this is the right source. And then, people should not be afraid of me. I am not being sponsored by anybody or any other political party.
“I am working for Africa Democratic Congress. I’ve been in this party for long, and I’m not ready to betray the party. And I also want to call on people who wish to defect, not to also defect at the back door.
“They should also come through the right channels, which is the ADC Ebonyi State, led by me, to defect. They shouldn’t be afraid. Their interests will always be protected.
“And people who might also have interests to run for an election, maybe presidential or any other election. So, I’m using this opportunity to also call on the Obidient, the Articulated, Elrufai, Tambuwal and so many groups that have joined our party, to collapse all their structures into ADC.
“So, we need to mobilize people into ADC. That is the first thing we should do. Everybody should come under one umbrella, which is the ADC. So, I’m calling on them to join us. They shouldn’t be afraid that their interests will surely be well protected in ADC”, she said
