First Term Rep. Jafaaru Chiroma Yakubu Midterm Constituency Brief: A Hallmark of Interventions

In a powerful demonstration of grassroots leadership and commitment to transformative representation, Hon. Jafaaru Ciroma, Member representing Bali/Cassol Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, has launched a series of wide-reaching empowerment initiatives, ranging from health intervention, economic empowerment, infrastructure etc marking his Midterm Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Program.


The first-term lawmaker, whose political rise has been marked by humility and focus, is fast earning a reputation for being a proactive and people-centered legislator. Since assuming office in 2023, Ciroma has placed his constituents at the heart of his legislative agenda, channeling federal opportunities and interventions directly to the people of Bali and Cassol LGAs.

The midterm empowerment program, held at the Bali town, Bali local government area attracted a large crowd of beneficiaries, traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, party stalwarts, and political stakeholders across party lines within the State. The event featured the distribution of empowerment items including healthcare Infrastructure, cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, irrigation water pumps, agricultural inputs, and business start-up funds aimed at enhancing livelihoods and boosting small-scale enterprises within his constituency and beyond.
Key items distributed during the empowerment programme include:
1. 23 mini ambulances to enhance emergency healthcare delivery
2. 80 motorcycles for youth empowerment and local mobility
3. 20 cars for strategic support to individuals and community services
4. Hospital equipment to upgrade local health facilities
5. Agricultural tools and machines such as:
Mini tractors
Solar-powered water pumps
Gas-powered water pumps
6. Solar inverters donated to mosques and churches to support clean energy use
7. Football jerseys for local teams to promote youth engagement through sports
8. Commissioning of a 10,000-capacity overhead solar-powered water borehole to improve access to clean water
9. Donated vehicles for cemetery services, addressing critical community needs
10. Numerous other empowerment materials, benefiting a wide range of constituents

Speaking during the occasion, Hon. Jafaaru Ciroma emphasized his belief that democracy must translate into tangible benefits for the people. “We are here today not just to give account, but to deliver on our promise of empowering our people. This is just the beginning. Our goal is to build self-reliant individuals who can support their families and contribute to the local economy,” he stated.

Beyond physical empowerment, Ciroma’s midterm report revealed ongoing efforts to attract developmental projects to the constituency. These include rural electrification projects, classroom renovation in underserved communities, and healthcare outreach programs that we provide medical aid to hundreds of rural dwellers.

Several constituents took turns to commend the lawmaker for his unprecedented intervention. “This is the first time we are seeing such direct support from a representative. Hon. Jafaaru Ciroma has shown us that change is possible, even within a short time,” said Hajiya Hadiza Buba, a women leader from Cassol.

The event also featured goodwill messages from representatives of the Taraba State Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC), civil society groups, and youth organizations, all praising Ciroma’s initiative as a benchmark for effective representation.

As Hon. Ciroma marks the halfway point of his first term, expectations are high that the second half will build upon these achievements with more inclusive programs that will sustain the current momentum.
