When a Christian obtains the ability to see into the spiritual realm, it affords such a one an opportunity to enter into the two-world ministry that will make him absolutely fearless. For example, Elijah that fled to Beersheba on a full day’s journey into the wilderness, who laid down under a juniper tree, and prayed to die; when he got the message that the wicked Queen Jezebel was after his life. But when the angel of God touched him, woke him up from sleep and gave him food to eat; that became the turning point of his life. In the strength of that food, he journeyed to the mount of God where he heard the still, small voice and received divine instructions for his ministry. From then onward, Elijah never run from his enemies again. Instead, he returned back to Ahab’s palace where he fled from and pronounced judgement upon the wicked king and his wife Jezebel.

Elijah ‘s life became a march forward until the moment of his translation. Just before Elijah was taken away in a chariot of fire, he inquired to know what he might do for Elisha- his successor to be. Elisha answered, “please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me” (2 Kings 2:9). Elijah replied, “you have asked for a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you can see me when I am taken from you, it shall be for you, but if not, it shall not be so” (v10). What Elijah meant was that, if Elisha’s eyes can pierce the fire of the Chariot and see him at the moment of translation, then his request would be granted. Elisha did see Elijah at his departing. He did see the chariot drawn by horses of fire. He did see and receive the mantle that fell from the Prophet. From that moment on, Elisha was another man of extraordinary. He too, lived and exercise power and authority. The power revolutionized Elisha’s life.

On one occasion, the Syrian army surrounded Elisha’s house, his servant was utterly disturbed by the chariots and horses of the Syrian army. Elisha was not perturbed because his eyes were open to see through the veil. He could see the angelic armies which outnumbered the Syrians. He replied his servant, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them’ (2 Kings 6: 16).

One of our enemy’s oldest trick is to make us feel all alone, weak and powerless (Acts 18: 9-10). When Elijah thought he was the only one of God’s prophet left, God assured him that He kept 7000 prophets who have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him “ (2 Kings 19: 18). Apostle Paul felt alone on many occasions (2 Tim. 4: 16 – 17). You may feel weak, alone and powerless, surrounded by armies of problems. But if you pray to the Lord, He will open your eyes, and speak to you like He did to many people who were in the same boat or worse in the past.

Prayer points:

• Oh Lord, keep my spiritual eyes open to see the manifestation of your glory in my life.

• Remove far from me the spirit of fear. Help me to know how fortified and protected I am in Christ.

Confession:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and staff, they comfort me.
