DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: AUGUST 31 LESSONS FROM TOUCHING THE UNTOUCHABLES (2) SCRIPTURE: JOHN 9: 1 – 2, 6 – 7; LUKE 7: 12 – 15

Spread the love

Yesterday’s devotional opened up our understanding that certain shameful diseases or sicknesses we carry about in secret, treating them all alone demand we have to boldly and courageously take them to Jesus Christ. The leper and the woman with the issue of blood had protracted deadly and shameful diseases; suffering alone till they met Jesus publicly and had His touch. Their woes changed to praises. Today, we are looking at lessons from the man who was blind from birth and the young man of Nain who died and Jesus restored back to life. These people did not go to Jesus directly asking for healing. What brought up their miracle was Jesus pitiful heart over their cases. The lesson before us today is that, at times, we go through serious problems, crying and giving up our hope without knowing that Jesus is coming on our ways to touch us.

The story of the born-blind man and the dead-young man has similarity. For the born-blind man, Jesus was passing and saw him (John 9: 1). For the dead-young man, Jesus met them at the town gate. No one called at Jesus, but mercy came into force! For the born-blind man, Jesus said his case was to allow God’s work be displayed in his life (John 9: 3 NIV). For the dead-young man the cries of the mother attracted Jesus’ pity (Luke 7: 13). The beloved in Christ, it is possible that your case, by human view, is beyond redemption. But by faith your disease or sickness is about revealing the work and mighty hand of God or Jesus in your life. You have to hold on in faith and hope. There is an assurance that someone is crying to God over your case as the mother of the young-dead man was crying. Even though your faith, hope and power to pray are been eroded, God and Jesus will pass through the person crying for your sake.

There is exhibition of faithlessness if you give attention to those talking evil on you when passing through dangerous situation. For the born-blind man, it could be said the sins of the parents were responsible. Yet Jesus saw it in another way. For the woman of Nain, as a widow whose only son died again after her husband; she could have been judged a “great witch” who killed her husband and now the son. But Jesus did not see no fault of hers in the matter. Neighbours and others might have been seeing you and thinking, you will never come off of the horrible disease you are suffering from now. Yet when God and Jesus come your way, they will help in advertising your recovering. Please the beloved in Christ, know that same Jesus who located the born-blind man and the woman of Nain is still watching your situation. You will soon smile! All I have for you is word of hope. You are not alone in the case. Those who soon give up missed their miracles. You will not miss yours in Jesus name!!

1. LORD JESUS, I know now that you walk around locating those in desperate situations in life. Kindly come towards my way today and give me testimony. Amen

2. JEHOVAH GOD OF SURPRISE, visit my case today and surprise those talking ills of me as the result of my diseases or sicknesses in Jesus name.
