Joy as FUDMA Matriculates 1,000 Beneficiaries of Senator Barau’s Scholarship Scheme

The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State on Monday came alive with celebrations as 1,000 undergraduates, awarded scholarships by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CFR, FCNA, formally matriculated into the institution.

The colourful ceremony, held on the university campus in Dutsin-Ma, was graced by prominent dignitaries including the Managing Director of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Professor Abdullahi Shehu Maaji; the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah; and Hajiya Yardada Maikano Bichi, Special Adviser on Women Affairs, among others.

According to the organisers, the event highlighted Senator Barau’s “steadfast commitment to promoting education among the youth in Kano State and beyond.”

Through the Barau Ibrahim Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), thousands of students have already benefited from scholarships to study in Nigeria and abroad, with 70 currently pursuing postgraduate programmes overseas.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Senate President, his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, commended the management of FUDMA for partnering to make the initiative a reality. He said, “We appreciate the leadership of Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Aminu Ado for working hand in hand with us to ensure the success of this scholarship programme.”

The National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS), FUDMA Chapter, also used the occasion to present Senator Barau with an award of excellence in recognition of his contributions to education and youth empowerment.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Ismail Mudashir, who signed the statement, reaffirmed that the initiative reflects Senator Barau’s vision of using education as a tool for social transformation.
