His message highlighted the nation’s unwavering resilience and steadfast faith, particularly acknowledging the sustained political stability since the return to democratic governance in 1999.

“On this truly momentous day, as our great nation, Nigeria, marks its 65th year of independence, I, Engr. Sunny Oche, Chairman of Ado Local Government, extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to each and every one of you,” Engr. Oche stated. He particularly lauded Nigerians for their “unwavering resilience and for keeping faith with our country,” noting that the political consistency since 1999 disproved earlier predictions of collapse.

Engr. Oche reflected on Nigeria’s journey, acknowledging its triumphs and trials as a normal part of a developing economy destined to “gradually get it right through consistent leadership and patriotism.” While understanding current concerns regarding the cost of living, security, and opportunities, he called for “sober reflection on this atmosphere, describing it as one requiring thanksgiving and mental alertness as we engage in activities that will further the growth and progress of our country.”

The Chairman took the opportunity to commend the “visionary leadership and relentless efforts” of His Excellency, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. He praised Governor Alia’s “capacity to speed up growth requirements in Benue State,” affirming that “The Benue story is now one of hope and expectation, and our Governor is delivering the much-needed governance.” Engr. Oche proudly noted the “positive turn of events as Benue State has become a construction site, with Ado Local Government specifically enjoying quality attention through road projects, hospital upgrades, improved wages, employment, and the overall well-being of our people.”

Additionally, Engr. Oche extended gratitude to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Chief Benjamin Omale, for his “exceptional work in keeping our great party intact as one family,” expressing anticipation for greater unification among members.

Reaffirming his commitment to the residents of Ado Local Government, Engr. Oche pledged “unwavering commitment to serving you by charting a path of prosperity for all. This includes ensuring quality leadership, providing social and basic amenities and improving the overall quality of life of our people.” He also called for a “strengthened judicial system, robust institutions, and profound respect for citizens’ rights as fundamental requirements of our democracy” to ensure a sustainable nation.

Concluding his message with a vision of optimism, Engr. Oche declared, “The future of Nigeria is bright, and it lies in our hands. Let us remember that nation-building is a continuous journey that requires patience, understanding, and above all, unity.” He urged citizens to “face the future with renewed hope, unwavering faith, and a collective dedication to peace and progress,” and to “carry forward the torch of independence with pride, striving every day to build a community and a nation we can all be proud of.”
