DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: OCTOBER 22 ARE YOU CONSCIOUS OF WHAT COMES NEXT? (3) SCRIPTURE: PSALM 35: 17; ROMANS 8: 27
Today’s devotional, under this topic, focuses on addressing these people in the societies who are giving up hope or losing hope on themselves according to the immediate ugly circumstances surrounding them. In every society, those who have hopelessly given off on themselves outnumber those confident of the future before them. People who are constantly faced with disappointments, failures, financial setbacks, business failures etc., have common outburst of emotional anger “HOW LONG OH GOD?” To these groups of people, talking of God’s appointed time means nothing to them. Greater populations of the world fall into this group of “How long Oh God?” This exclamation had made many ended up in woes. However, the few who hold on to their hope and faith in God saw the “Real Appointed Time” of God for them. It is more meaningless talking of “good time ahead; appointed by God” when enemies around us are increasing in wickedness and hate against us.
King David once cried out with same hopelessness in Psalm 35: 17 saying “LORD, how long will you look on, rescue me from their ravages, rescue my precious life from the young lions”. This cry of “How long, O Lord?” is the cry for those who have had waited on the Lord and seemed not seeing His miraculous power of deliverance. The feeling that God supposed to answer us within our expected time forms major reasons many backslid from faith in God. This devotional stands on the fact that, God has good appointed time for fruitful change for those who trust Him. God responds to our requests from Him at the times He knows what we want from Him will be useful to us. We should avoid yielding our anxieties to pressures from people around us.
Waiting for God’s appointed time helps us have a positive consciousness of what will come to us in future. When we build up our capacity to wait on appointed time of God, the Holy Spirit who sees our hearts’ desires in the present and future will spring into action on our behalf. He thus conveys our hearts’ desires to God for His responses (Rom. 8: 27), then enables our minds be hopefully stable till the appointed time of God. One good thing about waiting for God’s appointed time is that, whatever is received thereafter out lives us. The prayer of this devotional is to give all our readers an enablement to wait for the appointed time of God for them, Shalom!
PRAYER:
GRACIOUS FATHER, grant me stable mind to wait for your appointed time allocated to me for my genuine change to come. Father, erase deadly anxieties from my heart and mind today in Jesus name.
