Ebonyi Former Commissioner Condemns Education Policies of Past Governments Against Private Schools

The former Commissioner for Education in Ebonyi State, Prince Ndubuisi Chibueze Agbo, has articulated his discontent regarding the treatment of private schools during the administration of David Umahi, asserting that they endured significant adversity.

In an interview with journalists, Prince Agbo lamented the numerous closures that beset private educational institutions under the previous regime.

He condemned the actions of the former government, characterizing them as detrimental to the educational framework of the state.

The erstwhile Commissioner, however, commended the educational initiatives of Governor Francis Nwifuru, praising his steadfast commitment to rejuvenating the educational sector.

He underscored the governor’s recent tours of various educational establishments and lauded him for his proactive measures aimed at addressing pressing challenges within the sector.

Prince Agbo specifically criticized the former governor, Sam Ominyi Egwu, asserting that his administration was mired in unfounded rumors, which impeded genuine progress.

The former commissioner extolled Governor Nwifuru for his accomplishments in education, infrastructure, and human capital development, asserting that the current administration has surpassed the expectations of the Ebonyi populace. “This administration is establishing new benchmarks for exemplary governance,”Agbo stated, expressing optimism regarding the future of education in the state.

In response to speculations regarding his political aspirations, Prince Agbo clarified that he does not intend to vie for a seat in the House of Representatives in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. Instead, he reiterated his unwavering support for Governor Nwifuru’s re-election campaign, reaffirming his confidence in the governor’s vision for a more prosperous future for Ebonyi State.

As the political landscape evolves, Prince Agbo’s vocal endorsement of the current administration mirrors a burgeoning sentiment among stakeholders who recognize the paramount importance of educational reform and advancement in the state.
