The recent police investigation into the alleged “secret cell” in Ndi-Obasi Community has officially confirmed that no such facility exists, thereby fully vindicating the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche. The Chairman described the allegation as a deliberate attempt to mislead security agencies, the Benue State House of Assembly, and the general public for selfish interests. He noted that the petition was crafted to distort facts, create tension, and tarnish his reputation as well as disturb the peace in the Ndi-Obasi Community.

Following the release of the Police Report, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche has appealed to the Department of State Security (DSS), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Benue State House of Assembly to immediately arrest and investigate the petitioner and all individuals involved in spreading the false information. He stressed that their actions inflicted unnecessary hardship on community leaders and the Office of the Executive Chairman, describing the conduct as criminal and malicious.

In his statement, the Chairman expressed concern that Deputy Speaker Lami Ogenyi, in collaboration with Mrs. Nkechi Perpetual Okafor and Nweke Chinedu, allegedly engaged in blackmail, character assassination, and abuse of office. He said the Deputy Speaker misled members of the 10th Assembly in an attempt to unjustly suspend him, damage his political career, and destroy his long-standing reputation. The Chairman reminded the public that several unfounded petitions had previously been brought against him, but all investigations consistently proved him innocent.

He further stated that the actions of those involved are unacceptable and urged the House of Assembly to address this act of impunity, which threatens the integrity of the legislative institution if left unchecked. He also called on relevant authorities to summon the Deputy Speaker and her collaborators for questioning regarding their repeated attempts to manipulate and deceive both institutions and the general public.

According to the Chairman, the outcome of the Police investigation raises serious questions regarding the conduct of the Deputy Speaker. He therefore called on the House to consider appropriate disciplinary measures on grounds of alleged abuse of office, misleading the general public and the House of Assembly, and actions capable of bringing the Assembly into disrepute.

The Council Boss encouraged all supporters and residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that due process will be followed to ensure justice prevails. The Chairman’s legal team has been instructed to review the matter and take appropriate lawful steps where necessary.
