Hon. Esther Agwu Kicks-Off Unity Football Competition In Constituency

The member representing Ohaukwu North Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Chidiebere Esther Agwu has kicked-off her Constituency football competition tagged ‘Unity Cup’ aimed at fostering unity among the youths of the Constituency.
While addressing the people of the area who thronged out in their number to witness the kick-off, the donor of the trophy and member representing Ohaukwu North Constituency, Hon. Esther Agwu, reiterated that the programme was to bring the youths together and foster mutual understanding.
She maintained that with the friendship among the youths in the yuletide, especially among Ezza and Effium, the peace that is being witnessed in Effium and Alioma would be sustained.
The Lawmaker maintained that the football tournament was in line with Governor Francis Nwifuru administration commitment to sports development, and challenged the players to utilize the opportunity to market their talents, so that they could be spotted and harnessed.
Hon.Agwu who is the Chairman House Committee on Health called on people of the area to massively continue to support Rt.Hon.Francis Nwifuru’s administration for exclusive provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state, including the people of the Constituency.
According to her, the eventual winners of the competition will get one-million naira,runners-up five-hundred thousand while third place finishers will have three-hundred thousand naira.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt.Hon.Chinedu Ogba Onah who was the Chairman of the occasion commended Hon.Esther Agwu for sponsoring the tournament to get youths more involved in the activities of the Constituency.
Rt.Hon.Onah, who urged youths not to involve in any act that will sabotage security or peace in the area during the yuletide or thereafter, charged the players to showcase their best skill in order to win the trophy and advance their skill to professionalism.
In a remark,the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA., Prince Ikechukwu Odono praised Hon.Esther Agwu for embarking on sponsorship of such sports showpiece for the interest of youths.
Prince Odono, who said his administration is committed to youth empowerment through sports, urged talented athletes in the area to work hard to succeed in their chosen career for their own interest.
The State Commissioner for Capital City Development Chief Sunday Inyima, the member representing Ebonyi North- East state Constituency Hon.Chinyere Nwogbaga,Former state Law makers,Hon.Nwanka Onwe,and Hon.Chinedu Awo, the former Coordinators of Effium and Ngbo Central , Hon. Agbo Sunday and Hon. Ofobuike Onwe respectively, among others commended the sponsor Hon.Esther Agwu for embarking on the project and charged the participants to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship for success of the event.
Meanwhile,Okposhi Ward one humiliated Effium Ward one four-zero in the opener. Other wards in the competition are Ishimgbo ward 2,Effium ward 2,Wigbeke ward 1,Wigbeke ward 2 and Wigbeke ward 3.
The event was a coming together of top politicians, stakeholders,community leaders,youths and women groups from the political wards in Ohaukwu Local Government Area and across the state.
