DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 12 IT IS FOOLISHNESS NOT TO PRAISE GOD SCRIPTURE: Psalms 14: 1; 107: 1; 145: 9
The inspiration I had before writing this devotional is that either refusing or forgetting to thank God as well as praising Him is an act of foolishness. What forgetting or refusing to give God thanks or praise Him makes anyone doing so is saying there is no God in the first place. Scripture says “The fool says in his heart that there is no God” (Gen. 1: 28). Reality abounds in every body that all human beings know there a Supreme Being who put all things around us in place. Problem with human beings is refusing or ignoring or not remembering to return thanks to this Supreme Being and praise for what He is to humanity.
Virtually, no human is good because we are all desperately wicked while pursuing what we want. We do not deserve whoever we become in terms of riches and wealthy. In God’s infinite goodness and mercy, He gives all things to us. On daily bases, God gives us good things. Yet, we busy ourselves building up anger and hate on Him for the very few things which went wrong around us. Our behaviours as ungrateful people make God angry every day. Yet, He gives us life, foods, protections, opportunity to make money and wealth with other favours.
I make bold to say here, that we do not give God thanks and praise just because of good things He does for us. We have to give Him thanks and praise Him because HE IS GOOD to us (Psalms 107: 1; 145: 9). The reason all creatures fear human beings at first sight is because God gave us the privilege to dominate and have authority over them (Gen. 1: 28). On daily bases, we are vulnerable to dangerous diseases and sicknesses as well other predators supposed to harm us. Here again God makes Himself a “stronghold”, that is our refuge, in the days of our troubles (Nahum 1: 7).
God is good in the sense that, He stored up good things for those who reverence Him from His Goodness without one asking for those things (Psalms 31: 19 – 20). Let us all imagine the nature of our sinfulness in the world. Every mankind is evil, desperate to do evil and deceitfully wicked (Jer. 17: 9). Here again, God is ever ready to forgive us our sins as many times as we turn to Him for forgiveness (Psalms 86: 5).
What today’s devotional puts across to us is that, as humans, we must hold on to one good thing or the other God allows us see every day to go to God with thanksgiving and singing songs of praises to Him. This makes us wise and grateful creatures. Any other thing contrary makes one a fool before our Maker. I pray that we apply this revelation positively to our daily activities. Give God thanks every day. Praise Him and magnify Him above all things every day. You will surely be blessed as you make this a habit in life.
PRAYER:
BLESSED FATHER, receive my thanks and appreciations today; for making me human being and given me dominion over all creations.
