DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JANUARY 6 WHY SATAN CAN’T STOP YOU (2) SCRIPTURE: Matt. 28: 18; Col. 1: 13; Phil. 2: 9 – 11
In the first discussion on this topic, we saw that Satan is believed to have ability to stop human beings from whatever they desired to have, planned to do, positioned to attain and successes to actualize, to mention but few. It was mentioned too that some Bible passages which ascribed power over the earth and rulership of the world to Satan have made many Christians accept that Satan can stop them from whatever they might desire. The story of how Satan made it possible for Adam and Eve lost Garden of Eden attests to claims that he can stop anybody from his/her divine agenda. Taking it from the story of Adam and Eve, we can believe that Satan causes one to sin against God so as to lose favour with God. *Of course, committing sin is the easiest ways Satan cause separation between God and mankind. As concluded yesterday, we have facts that Satan cannot stop Christians permanently from what they desire to do or be.
Today’s devotional is proving how Satan cannot stop Christians from actualizing their dreams or plans. Satan may quote 2 Corinthians 4: 4 to a Christian that he is said to be the god of this world. But this is not true. The phrase “god of this world” or “god of this age” indicates that Satan is the major influence on the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and views of the majority of people. Satan’s influence also encompasses the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce. But these do not mean Satan has absolute power, authority and influence over all things in the world. The stand of today’s devotional is that Satan cannot stop you as a Christian from what you desire to do completely.
As Christians, we must know that believers are no longer under the rule of Satan (Col. 1: 13). It is only unbelievers that the Bible says are caught in the snare of the devil (1 Timothy 2: 26). Is only unbelievers that Satan makes them to lie in the power of the evil one (1 John 5: 19). Satan can make unbelievers be subjected to his bondage (Eph. 2: 2). As Christians, we can only allow Satan to stop us from what we intend to have or do by believing in his lies. He comes always to tell Christians lies. Satan knows that all power and authority were given to Jesus after He died, was buried and came out of the grave (Matt. 28: 18). Through these feats, God placed Jesus above all other powers, which at the mentioning of Jesus’ name other beings bow in worshipping Him (Phil. 2: 9 – 11). This includes Satan and his agents. As long as we believe in Jesus and the power in His name, we can break through any blockage Satan placed on our ways. One Timothy Weah said: – “Confidence is key – once you have that you are unstoppable.”
ACTION:
Quietly think over things you have passed through in life. Look critically inward and see if there are things you could do and, therefore, gave the victory to Satan. Today in prayers, call upon Satan to return them back to you, using the name of Jesus. Answers to these prayers will be amazing.
