Headline: NASENI Unveils Inter-Agency Innovation Competition to Power Homegrown Tech Solutions Across MDAs

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has launched an Inter-Agency Innovation Competition and Awards designed to stimulate local solutions, deepen collaboration, and promote creativity among Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Announcing the initiative, the agency said the programme is targeted at mobilising public servants to generate practical, technology-driven ideas capable of solving national challenges and accelerating socio-economic development. According to NASENI, the competition is “aimed at harnessing innovation, promoting collaboration and creativity among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.”
The agency reaffirmed its statutory mandate, noting that it exists “to develop and maintain a dynamic infrastructure to drive Nigeria’s indigenous industrialization, job creation and national progress for the country.” It added that the competition is another step toward fulfilling that mission through the ingenuity of public institutions.
The initiative invites MDAs to submit innovative concepts across key sectors such as health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure, leveraging science and technology to transform public service delivery and improve citizens’ quality of life. “This specific initiative amongst the MDAs seeks to harness innovative ideas that can drive technological advancement and address pressing challenges facing the nation amongst public servants,” NASENI stated.
Encouraging participation, the agency called on eligible institutions to submit entries via its designated portal. “MDAs are encouraged to submit their entries through https://naseni.gov.ng/innovation/,” it said.
Describing the competition as a national call to action, NASENI urged public institutions to be part of the push for technological advancement. “Join the movement in driving innovation for a better Nigeria. Together, we can unlock our nation’s potential through innovation in science and technology,” the agency declared, adding that participation is open to all MDAs interested in “proposing innovative solutions” to national challenges.
The Inter-Agency Innovation Competition and Awards are expected to spotlight outstanding ideas and catalyse their implementation toward strengthening Nigeria’s homegrown technological capacity.
