Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another major operational success following a well-coordinated offensive against terrorist elements in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the neutralisation of terrorists and the rescue of abducted civilians.
According to a press release from Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), the operation was carried out in the early hours of 4 January 2026, when troops, working in close collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis.
During the encounter, five terrorists were neutralised without any casualty to own troops, a development that highlights the professionalism, precision, and combat effectiveness of the security forces. The troops also successfully rescued three civilians who had earlier been kidnapped by the terrorists.

The release stated that items recovered during the operation included AK-47 rifles and other sundry materials, further degrading the operational capability of the terrorist group in the area.
“The successful operation underscores OPHK’s sustained commitment to aggressive offensive actions against terrorist elements while prioritising the protection of civilians,” the statement noted. It also emphasised the importance of effective collaboration with local security stakeholders, particularly the CJTF, in weakening terrorist networks and denying them freedom of movement.
The military further assured that troops’ morale remains high as security forces continue to dominate the operational environment across the Theatre of Operations despite evolving security dynamics.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to remain relentless in its mandate to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability in the North East region.
The operation was confirmed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, on 4 January 2026.
