DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: FEBRUARY 18 *IF WE HAVE EYES TO SEE (3) Scripture: 2 Thess. 2: 9 – 10; 2 Tim. 2: 1 – 9
This is the third series of this devotional and we will touch the Spiritual Signs that reminds us of events that will herald the End Time and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ into the world. Both Apostle Matthew and Luke recorded that some will come saying they are Jesus Christ and calling themselves the “Messiahs” or saying “I am He”. These people will deceive many others. Over the years past, several people have come claiming to be Jesus. For instance, in the 17th Century one Ryns Evans, who later changed to Arise Evans, a prophet; said he was Jesus. In the 18th Century one Kondratiy Selivanov, in the Russian Empire came up to claim he was Jesus. The same Century, one Anne Lee, a founder of a group called “Shakers” came claiming to be female incarnate of Christ. Over seven other persons came out claiming to be Jesus in the 19th Century. Two of them were John Nichols Thom, a Cornish tax rebel. He claimed to be the saviour of the world and incarnation of Jesus in 1834 AD. The second was Carl Browne, an American. He claimed to be the partial incarnate of Jesus. These days such people are uncountable.
If we have eyes to see, we will be seeing men of lawlessness, people fill with apostasy exalting themselves above God in these our days. We can see people the Bible described as working all kinds of false miracles, signs and wonders, and with every unrighteous deception among those perishing because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved (2 Thess. 2: 9 -10). Apostle Paul wrote in details about what would be seen at the approach of the End Time in 2 Timothy 3: 1-9. We are already seeing people so loving themselves alone, lovers of money, boastful, pride, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving and irreconcilable.
If we have eyes to see, we will be seeing slanderers, people without self-control, brutal people without love for what is good. We can see traitors, reckless, conceited people alongside with lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Where in the world now that we cannot see people holding to the form of religion but denying its power? Are our eyes not seeing people claiming to be religious but going into households of women who are idle, forcing them into sexual relationship under the name of Spiritual Leaders? The list cannot be exhausted here. This devotional directs readers to know and accept that these things our eyes are seeing are true prophecies the Bible puts down for action. The action should be having a change of mind and follow God and Jesus so that we will make heaven.
PRAYER:
Blessed Father, the evidences seen above really convinced me that your words are true. I plead therefore, that a mind of repentance is granted me today in the name of Jesus. Make your words more real and powerful to me from now and forever more, in Jesus name.
