The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the Local Government, warning criminal elements to steer clear of Ado or face the full weight of the law.
The Chairman according to a press statement e-signed by the chairman’s private principal secretary, Innocent Igelle commended the gallant efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and other security agencies operating within the Local Government for their professionalism, courage, and dedication in combating insecurity. He particularly applauded their coordinated response which led to the safe rescue of the nine persons abducted from St. John’s Catholic Church, Ojije Utonkon; a development that brought relief to families and the entire Local Government.
Hon. Oche made it unequivocally clear that kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, and all forms of criminality will not be tolerated under his watch. He stressed that anyone found culpable, regardless of status or influence, will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law. The Local Government, he emphasized, will not provide safe haven to criminals or their collaborators.
In light of recent incidents, the Chairman called on all residents to heighten their level of vigilance. He urged community members, traditional leaders, youth groups, religious institutions, and market associations to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities of unfamiliar persons within their neighborhoods. Particular caution should be exercised regarding individuals who may disguise themselves as merchants, traders, or casual visitors while carrying out reconnaissance for criminal purposes.
“The security of our communities is a shared responsibility,” the Chairman stated. “Residents must not ignore unusual gatherings, suspicious inquiries about movements of children or families, or strange persons loitering without clear purpose. Early reporting can prevent tragedies.”
While acknowledging the repeated attempts by certain political opponents to exploit security challenges in an effort to tarnish the image of the Local Government leadership, Hon. Oche maintained that security matters must never be politicized. He affirmed that governance is about responsibility, not propaganda, and reassured the people that his administration remains focused on concrete action rather than distractions.
The Chairman also expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, and his Deputy, Sam Ode, for their unwavering support and for reinforcing security architecture in Ado LGA with additional personnel to flush out criminal elements.
Furthermore, the Security Secretary of the Council, Sir. Anma Okpali Vincent (KSM), advised youths and community members against taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized that security agencies are adequately equipped to handle criminal matters professionally, and that mob actions or vigilante excesses only undermine lawful processes and community peace.
The Executive Chairman reassures residents that strategic security reviews are ongoing, surveillance is being strengthened, and intelligence gathering mechanisms are being intensified across all wards. He urged the people of Ado LGA to remain calm, united, and cooperative with security agencies.
Ado Local Government will not bow to intimidation. Criminal elements must understand that there is no hiding place for them.
