The Executive Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Hon. (Chief) Akanbi Kamar Olarewaju, on Friday, March 6, 2026, received members of the Oyun Women Progressives Circle at his office in Ilemona, Oyun Local Government Area.
The women’s group paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman to commend his developmental strides and people-oriented initiatives across communities in the local government area.
They noted that his leadership has brought visible progress to the grassroots and strengthened the confidence of party members and residents in the administration.
During the visit, the group also expressed appreciation for the leadership of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, acknowledging the various development projects and governance reforms being implemented across the state.
The women further lauded the peaceful conduct of the recently concluded ward, local government, and state congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.
According to them, the successful and orderly exercise has reinforced their belief that the ruling APC will continue to grow stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They expressed optimism that the party would retain all elective positions in the state while also ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
Speaking on the political future of the state, the group appealed to the Executive Chairman to lend his support to the aspiration of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Saliu Yakubu Danladi, as the next Governor of Kwara State.
They said the women group has been working tirelessly at the grassroots level, engaging stakeholders, community leaders, and party members to mobilize support for the project. According to them, Danladi stands out among the aspirants as the most prepared, competent, and effective candidate, citing his years of legislative experience and leadership as Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Responding, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Akanbi Kamar Olarewaju, appreciated the women for their visit, support, and commitment to the growth of the party at the grassroots level. He urged them to continue supporting the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and to remain steadfast in their contributions toward the progress of Oyun Local Government and Kwara State.
He also assured the group that their request and political aspirations would be duly communicated, noting that he would continue to consult widely with relevant stakeholders on the matter.
The visit, the women added, was part of their broader efforts to consolidate support for the party while strengthening unity among its members at the grassroots level.
