Tinubu Renews Tenure of Three Federal Permanent Secretaries for Final Four-Year Term

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of tenure for three Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to continuity and efficiency in public service administration.

The reappointment which is contained in state house press release e-signed by the president’s Special Assistant on Media and strategic information, Bayo Onanuga named Ms. Kachallom Shangti Daju, Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare; Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary in the Federal  Ministry of Justice; and Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe, Permanent Secretary in the Minister of Development as the reappointed permanent secretaries.

According to the approval, which takes effect from April 27, 2026, the renewed tenure represents a second and final term of four years for the senior civil servants.

The decision aligns with provisions of the Public Service Rule (PSR) 020909, which stipulates that Permanent Secretaries serve an initial four-year term and may be granted a second four-year tenure based on satisfactory performance and adherence to service regulations.

Congratulating the officials on their reappointment, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack described the renewal as recognition of their professionalism, dedication, and contributions to the effective functioning of the federal bureaucracy.

She urged the Permanent Secretaries to regard the renewed mandate as a call to greater commitment and excellence in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Walson-Jack further charged them to leverage their vast experience and professional expertise to strengthen service delivery and support government policies aimed at advancing national development.

Permanent Secretaries are the highest-ranking career civil servants in federal ministries and play a critical role in policy implementation, administrative coordination, and ensuring continuity in governance within Nigeria’s public service system.
