Easter: Deputy Speaker Kalu Calls for Unity, Hope Amid Nigeria’s Challenges

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, hope, and a shared sense of humanity as Christians across the country celebrate Easter, expressing optimism that the nation will overcome its current socio-economic challenges.
The call was contained in an Easter message issued on April 4, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu.
In the message, Kalu described Easter as a symbol of sacrifice, renewal, and victory of hope over despair, urging Nigerians to reflect on the deeper meaning of the season.
“Easter speaks to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless power of hope. It calls on us to love one another, to stand united, and to uphold our shared humanity, especially in difficult times,” he said.
He also called on citizens to continue praying for the nation and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressing confidence in Nigeria’s ability to overcome its challenges.
According to him, national progress requires collective effort beyond ethnic, religious, and political differences.
“There is a pressing need for citizens to come together, transcending ethnic, religious, and political divides in the collective pursuit of peace, unity, and sustainable national development,” Kalu stated.
The Deputy Speaker further urged leaders at all levels to prioritize inclusive governance and people-centered policies.
“True leadership must be anchored on compassion and service, with policies that promote inclusiveness, fairness, and the welfare of the people,” he added.
He also encouraged Nigerians to show kindness to the less privileged, noting that small acts of compassion can help build a more cohesive society.
Kalu reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to advancing legislation that promotes unity, economic growth, and improved living standards.
He wished Christians a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration, while praying for continued progress, unity, and stability in the country.
