Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised at least 10 suspected terrorists and recovered arms and logistics supplies during a coordinated clearance operation in parts of Plateau State, in what authorities describe as a significant breakthrough in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

The details were contained in a statement issued by Chinonso Polycarp Oteh (Captain), Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE.

According to the statement, the operation—conducted in collaboration with local vigilante groups—targeted terrorist enclaves in Daba and Seri villages across Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas under the ongoing Operation WUTAN DAJI.

“At about 08:30am on April 9, 2026, troops established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest,” the statement noted.

It added that troops encountered a large group of armed terrorists moving on motorcycles along a known transit route and engaged them decisively.

“The criminals were met with superior and well-coordinated volume of fire. Despite initial resistance, they were overwhelmed, leading to the neutralisation of 10 terrorists, while others fled into the forest with casualties,” Oteh stated.

In a related development, troops also responded swiftly to an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu axis, launching a pursuit operation against the assailants.

“Following the initial encounter, the perpetrators withdrew into the hinterlands, prompting an immediate pursuit to restore peace and security,” the statement said.

Subsequent cordon-and-search operations conducted in Suma Suga, Takwok villages, and surrounding mountainous areas led to the recovery of weapons and other materials.

Items recovered include “three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit intended for terrorist logistics.”

Security forces also recovered a National Identity Card and a photograph believed to belong to members of the group, which officials say will aid ongoing investigations.

The military described the operation as a major step toward weakening armed groups in the region.

“This successful engagement marks a significant step in degrading the operational capacity of criminal elements within the area,” the statement added.

Troops have since remained on high alert and are continuing pursuit operations to track down fleeing suspects and their collaborators.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intensified operations across identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property in Plateau and surrounding areas.
