Dr. Christopher Obiuwevbi, has formally joined the race for the House of Representatives seat to represent Ughelli North/ Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency of Delta State.

Dr. Obiuwevbi picked his expression of interest and nomination forms of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in Abuja.

In his declaration, Dr. Obiuwevbi emphasized the significant contributions of his federal constituency to Nigeria’s economic stability, noting that his constituency has produced millions of barrels of oil and substantial gas resources that sustain the nation’s economy.

“Despite our immense contributions, our people continue to suffer neglect. The impact of government is scarcely felt in our communities,” he stated.
He expressed concern over the lack of development and representation in key federal ministries and agencies, including the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Federal Ministry of Education, and Federal Ministry of Transport. According to him, the absence of visible government projects and opportunities in his constituency raises serious questions about equity and inclusion.

Dr. Obiuwevbi further highlighted the plight of unemployed youths in the constituency, lamenting the lack of representation of Udufera indigenes in major national institutions such as the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

“It is unjust that the communities that sustain the nation’s economy are left behind. The goose that lays the golden egg must be protected and nurtured,” he added.

Citing widespread support from constituents, Dr. Obiuwevbi noted that his decision to run was driven by the collective call of the people for effective and responsive representation. He expressed confidence in securing victory at the primaries, following the official collection of his nomination forms.
He also commended the leadership of his party for ensuring a transparent and inclusive process that allows all aspirants equal opportunity to participate.
Dr. Obiuwevbi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to advocating for equitable development, youth empowerment, and stronger representation for the Ughelli North/ Ughelli South/Udu Constituency at the national level.
