Police Nab Eight Suspected Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Nasarawa Crackdown

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and recovered arms during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community of Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, following a violent attack that left residents in panic and two persons abducted.
According to a press release issued by the Nigeria Police Force and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the operation was launched after armed hoodlums stormed the community on the night of May 6, 2026, shooting sporadically before abducting two residents from their homes.
Police said operatives of the Nasarawa State Command, working alongside other security agencies, local vigilantes, and community youths, swiftly mobilized to the area after receiving a distress report in the early hours of May 7.
The coordinated operation led to the arrest of eight suspects identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.
Security operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used during the attack.
“The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained efforts against kidnapping and violent crimes,” the statement said.
The Force further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving treatment.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery during the operation.
The IGP described the successful raid as “a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in combating violent crimes.”
He also appreciated the support of sister security agencies, vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation contributed to the success of the operation.
The police assured residents of Nasarawa State and Nigerians at large of its continued commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
