A leading governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) says he is confident of scaling through the screening process ahead of the 2027 election, expressing readiness for either consensus candidacy or direct primaries.

Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the 10th Senate disclosed this after appearing before the screening committee, describing the exercise as thorough and satisfactory.

“It went well. The panel went through all the documents that I presented before them and asked questions bordering on eligibility and preparedness for the task ahead. I answered all those questions, and they were satisfied,” he said.

While noting that the final decision rests with the screening committee, the lawmaker expressed optimism about making the list of cleared candidates.

“As far as we are concerned, I believe the responses I gave were satisfactory. We will, however, wait for the official list,” he added.

On the mode of primary election, Adeola said he is comfortable with both consensus and direct primaries, stressing that the provisions align with the Electoral Act passed by the National Assembly.

“Where consensus is possible, we should go ahead. Where it is not, we should adopt direct primaries so that every party member can participate in choosing candidates,” he explained.

The senator also appreciated party leaders across Ogun State for reportedly considering him as a consensus candidate for the governorship race.

“I’m not taking it for granted. I thank them for the bold decision to present me as the sole candidate. It is a responsibility I hold dearly,” he said.

Highlighting his political experience spanning over two decades—from the Lagos State House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and now as a three-term senator—Adeola assured Ogun residents of impactful governance if elected.

“I know expectations are high. I will not let the people down. We will deliver greater infrastructure, boost the economy, and ensure development across all sectors,” he pledged.

He added that strategic enablers and policies would be deployed to move Ogun State to “the next level,” urging residents to remain hopeful about the future.
