The Spirit of knowledge is second to the last we are discussing in the Spirit of the LORD on Jesus devotional series. One of the lead texts above, Proverbs 2: 2 – 5 presented Knowledge uniquely. Is like verses three and four referred specifically to knowledge saying: “…yes if you cry out after knowledge and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures…” (NKJV). Knowledge is insight. Besides wisdom and understanding, knowledge, according to these verses should be sought for and searched for as one would seek and search for silver and gold. The Hebrew phrase used for knowledge here is rauch da’ath and is used for knowledge, insight, intelligence, and in some places understanding. This devotional is comfortable with insight and intelligence. The most genuine knowledge to get is that from the Spirit of the LORD. God grants knowledge to who have honest relationship with Him.

Extraordinary presentation of knowledge can be found in Jesus’ teaching, preaching and reasoning all through. By His wealth of knowledge, He preached and taught about God’s Kingdom in parables. It takes high degree of knowledge to speak in parables. Through knowledge Jesus discerned, perceived and interprets the thoughts of people listening to His messages and teaching (Mark 4: 12; Luke 6: 41; 20: 23). Jesus shocked the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well with exhibition of knowledge. He accurately perceived that the woman had no husband and that the man she was with at the very moment was the fifth (see the full story in John 4: 6 -19).

As Christians, we need insight, power of divine perception and sound judgment of issues daily. This is what knowledge involves. We can also grow more intimately with God through knowledge. No wonder the Bible says one has to seek for it and search for it. There cannot be a better place to seeking and searching knowledge outside of listening and hearing the words of God. One may think that everybody is not expected to have all the seeds of the Spirit of the Lord which are: the Spirit of the LORD, wisdom, counsel, might, understanding, Knowledge and the fear of the LORD. But listening to God’s words, His commandments will give adequate proportion of them all.

PRAYER:

LORD JESUS CHRIST, grant me favour to gain insight to how to relate with God my Father, you, my LORD and the Holy Spirit with Divine Knowledge. Amen.
